A new women’s racing community, fittingly named MotogirlsWA, took part in their first race in front of 5,000 motocross enthusiasts on Sunday at Western Australia’s premier motocross track, Cosy Creek MX Circuit.
MotogirlsWA founder Elle Rose said she couldn’t believe their first ever race weekend would take place at the Manjimup 15,000.
“This is our first event as a club, can you believe we chose Manjimup to launch at,”
Ms Rose launched the community in early 2025 in hope of giving a welcoming space for women to be able to ride and talk motocross.
“I saw these girls needed a community,” she said.
“We’re really not like the boys. I wanted to create this place where we can get together, have a bit of fun and ride motos.”
The MXW class immediately followed the high profile All Stars headline class.
Event organiser Willie Thomson said it was fitting that women motocross is given such a platform to grow.
“Women have always been part of the motocross community,” he said.
“We have had women race at Manjimup for years, but their class and riders had always been mixed up with various classes with the boys.
“We really want this event to be the launching pad for organised women’s MX events in our great state.”
Bunbury KTM’s Leah Rimbas put together a flawless performance, winning all three MXW races to be crowned the 2025 MXW Manjimup 15,000 Champion.
