Manjimup is on the brink of hosting its first ever four-cross racing competition.
Dirt High Promotions has announced the debut of the Fox Four-Cross MTB (mountain bike) event for the June WA Day long weekend at Cosy Creek Motocross Track.
Four Cross is a downhill mountain bike series whereby four rival riders take to the track racing bar-to-bar in hopes of reaching the bottom first.
The return of the Four-Cross to WA coincides with the comeback of the Berry Sweet Manjimup 15000 at Cosy Creek.
After a full day of motocross action at the track, the mountain bikes will take centre stage under the lights once the bustle of dirt bikes fades into the evening
An all new 350-meter course, currently under construction at Cosy Creek, is a testament to 8-time world champion Sam Hill’s vision and expertise, who designed the course to challenge riders and provide entertainment for spectators.
The event will take place under lights on Saturday June 1 from 5.30pm, with practice set to take place on Thursday May 30, Friday May 31 and Saturday between 4pm and 5pm
Dirt High Promotions owner and event organiser Willie Thomson says the new four-cross event will bring a carnival-like atmosphere to the weekend’s proceedings.
“I think what is getting riders excited is not only the Manjimup 15,000 but the new mountain biking track we are putting in for the weekend. That’s going to be massive,” he said.
“It will be great for the talented kids at the race who are looking for something new to try once the racing of the motocross finishes for the night.
“There will be a big screen TV showcasing proceedings, bonfires with surrounding food trucks and a bar at the finish line to go alongside the racing.”
Mr Thomson says the race will be a fantastic opportunity for amateur mountain bike riders to rub shoulders with the fast boys.
“We are already seeing excitement amongst the four-cross community so expect a number of star riders to appear at the event,” he said.
Dirt High Promotions says the Fox Four Cross is open to all who want to have a go. Registrations will open in late April.
