MEDIA RELEASE – Australian Motocross History
Monday, 20 April 2026
The Power Up Electricity Museum is set to premiere a new documentary produced by Australian Motocross History on the remarkable story of the Manjimup 15000 and the Manjimup Motorcycle Club.
Manjimup locals and visitors will be the first to experience a new one-hour documentary, Magic Manjimup 15000 MX: 40 Years of History in One Hour, with a special launch scheduled for the WA June long weekend, traditionally home to the Manjimup 15000. The movie announcement comes after Dirt High Promotions cancelled the 2026 Manjimup 15,000 race weekend due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding rider and team travel logistics amid fuel supply issues.
The documentary is a passion project by Australian Motocross History author and owner John Steyntjes and is a result of over six months of film production by the former motocross champion.
Mr Steyntjes is a former sidecar rider, who competed himself at the Manjimup 15000 in the mid-to-late 1980s.
The documentary delves deep into four distinct eras of Australia’s most successful outdoor motocross event, stretching from its earliest renditions in the 1980s all the way to Dirt High Promotions takeover in the 2010s. The documentary details the unique history that has taken place at Cosy Creek MX Circuit through archival footage and hundreds of historical of photographs, many courtesy of renowned Australian motocross photographer Peter Kitchingman.
In the lead up to the premiere, AMX History will feature story extracts from the documentary via its Facebook group, offering fans a sneak peak into the film prior to its first screening.
Following its premiere in Manjimup on Sunday, 31 May 2026, the documentary will screen weekly each Saturday at the Power Up Electricity Museum throughout June. The film will then be shown in Perth over the 10–12 July weekend at the Camelot Arts Centre in Mosman Park.
